Yes, we install bidet seats and smart toilets across Sydney’s north shore
And the compliance question is simpler than it used to be!
During Covid, bidets toilet paper shortages got people thinging about bidets, but strict plumbing complinace around backflow compliance made it a difficult and expensive process.
With the recent surge in Japanese travel, Australians have seen and used heated, washing toilet seats in every hotel, convenience store and restaurant they walked into, and people want to get one at home.
In the last couple of years several compliant options have entered the Australian market. Roca Multiclean, Tudaloo, and yes, Toto, the brand you saw in every hotel bathroom in Japan, are all now available here without the compliance headache.
This is why bidet seats and smart toilets have become an ordinary requests across Sydney rather than an unusual one.
Do I need a plumber for bidet installation in Sydney?
Yes. Connecting a bidet seat or a smart toilet to your water supply is licensed plumbing work in NSW, so it needs a licensed plumber, and a Plumbing Certificate of Compliance as the water connection to the seat is regulated andit is required for insurance and if you sell your home.
Blue Rhino Plumbing is based in North Ryde and we install bidet seats and smart toilets across Sydney. We are also licensed bathroom renovators, so installing them in a bathroom makeover is a common request ( especially in essuites!)
Bidet seat and smart toilet options for Sydney homes
We see three main brands and the right one depends on your bathroom more than your budget.
Brand choice and installation are two separate questions, and the second one is the one we can always answer. Whatever seat you land on, the installation is the licensed part, and that is the part we do.
If you have already bought a bidet seat yourself, including a Toto, we can install it for you and certify the work. Have a word with Rueben about the model before it turns up so he can look at your water connection, the space behind the pan and whether there is power on that wall, and tell you what the fit looks like at your place.
If you would rather we sorted the supply side as well, ask him what he is able to bring in and he will give you a straight answer.

The Smart Toilet Seats and Full units we install
These are the bidet seats and smart toilets we see most often, from the simplest retrofit through to a complete integrated unit. The right one depends on your bathroom setup as much as your budget, so the practical notes matter more than the feature lists.
Toto Washlet: the one that started it all
If you’ve been to Japan and loved the toilets, this is almost certainly what you used. Toto is the dominant brand in Japanese bathrooms, hotels, airports, convenience stores, everywhere. The Washlet is what turned “heated toilet seat” from a novelty into something Australians actively come home wanting. If you’re specifically after a Toto, call us and we’ll tell you where things stand. In the meantime, the Tudaloo Pro covers similar ground on features and compliance.
Tudaloo Flow: non-electric, no fuss
Runs on mains water pressure alone. No batteries, no power outlet, nothing to program. Dual check backflow prevention is built into the unit. The water is unheated — worth being honest with yourself about that before you choose — but for an entry-level upgrade on your existing toilet without an electrician involved, this is where most conversations start.
Tudaloo Pro: the Japanese experience on your existing toilet
Electric, with instant on-demand water heating, adjustable water and seat temperature, front and rear wash modes, self-cleaning antibacterial nozzle, soft close lid, activated carbon deodoriser, stainless steel hose, and integrated backflow prevention. The Pro Plus adds a sensor-opening lid. First water filter included.
One thing to check before you commit: it needs a power outlet near the toilet. A lot of bathrooms don’t have one. If you’re renovating, sort the socket while the wall is open.
Roca Multiclean: European build, fixed controls
Similar feature set to the Tudaloo Pro — heated water, adjustable wash modes, oscillating and pulsating nozzle, air dry, SoftClose seat, energy saving mode, self-cleaning nozzle. The difference is the controls sit on a fixed panel rather than a remote. Also needs a power outlet near the toilet.
Tudaloo Halo: the full renovation specification
This is not a retrofit seat. It’s a complete one-piece integrated smart toilet — auto lid, auto flush, heated seat, customisable wash and dry, built-in deodoriser. It belongs in a bathroom you’re already renovating or where you’re doing a straight pan replacement. Fitting a smart seat to an old pan in a brand new bathroom is a compromise. The Halo isn’t.

When a bidet seat installation needs an extra step first
There are a couple of situations where something has to happen before the bidet installation itself, and it is better to hear it now than on the day.
- No power outlet near the toilet: the electric seats and the smart toilets need one, so an electrician goes in ahead of us. Plenty of older bathrooms have nothing at all on that wall.
- Unusually low water pressure: a non electric seat relies on your mains pressure to do the washing, so where the pressure at the property is low, the wash will feel weaker than you are expecting. We can check it while we are there and tell you plainly what you will get.
The Flow works on standard mains pressure and is usually the answer where power is the sticking point, because it takes the electrician out of the picture altogether.
